In order to respond to climate change and meet the new government’s goal for offshore wind power supply, it is necessary to develop about 14GW of offshore wind power by 2030, and thus there is a pressing need for the development of offshore wind farms. To meet this need, the Offshore Wind Energy Technology Research Committee held the 17th, 18th, and 19th Colloquia on the theme of “Floating Offshore Wind Power Generation” with the participation of various experts at the University of Ulsan in 2019. 

Affiliated with SNAK and the Korea Wind Energy Association, the Offshore Wind Energy Technology Research Committee has expertise in floating offshore wind power. The committee has been very active since its founding in 2012, holding a total of 19 colloquia till now. In order to adhere to the government’s New Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan, the committee is building its capabilities through exchanges with various experts on floating offshore wind power, and will continue to lead the development of floating offshore wind power through activities involving colloquia and so on.
