​ Samsung Heavy Industries 

-Samsung Heavy Industries is scheduled to obtain Approval in Principle from ABS of the United States for its SMART MHM (Machinery Health Monitoring) system, with the technology to be integrated into SHI’s SVESSEL CBM (Condition Based Maintenance), a state-based smart failure diagnosis system. The SVESSEL CBM is smart predication solution, which remotely analyzes the vibration and electric current signals of the ship’s main devices by using IoT and AI technologies that can perform real-time failure diagnosis and predict maintenance times. It is currently used in LNG carriers constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries. 

 

​ HD Hyundai Heavy Industries

-HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a USD 3.9 billion contract with Qatar Energy for the construction of 17 LNG carriers. 

-The consortium consisting of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and LIG Nex1 announced that they have signed an agreement to collaborate in the field of naval training and combat solutions to facilitate the development of future and export-purpose vessels. 

 

​ Hanwha Ocean

-Hanwha Ocean announced that it has signed a framework agreement with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for the technological collaboration on 'digital shipbuilding.' Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on the demonstration and verification of their digital production technology, cybersecurity, autonomous navigation, and smart ship solutions until 2026.

-Hanwha Ocean announced that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for the 'Energy Source System for Unmanned Submersible' project of the Agency for Defense Development of Korea. Specifically, Hanwha Ocean will participate in the development of a ‘multi-purpose modular hydrogen fuel cell system for unmanned submersibles.’


▶ K Shipbuilding

-K Shipbuilding, in collaboration with Doosan Robotics, has completed the development of its Collaborative Robot-based Automated Ship Hull Engraving Welding Device. K Shipbuilding showcased its final inspections and a demonstration of the device in the '2023 Small and Medium-sized Shipbuilding Smart Production Innovation Support Project' hosted by the Research Institute of Medium and Small Shipbuilding and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.


▶ Korean Register

-Korean Register of Shipping announced its official launch of 'Real360' (KR-Real360), a ship training program based on a 360-degree extended reality (XR).


​ Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

-Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Korea Maritime & Ocean University have signed a MoU on the training of professional seafarers for eco-friendly ships. The two organizations agreed to provide training courses on the performance measurement of ship’s system and operation of the measurement equipment, understanding the design and characteristics through simulations, and analyzing eco-friendly policies. 

 

​ Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries 

-Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries recently held a 'Automatic Welding Device Field Demonstration' event for public institutions, including the Research Institute of Medium and Small Shipbuilding, and other external partner stakeholders. Through the demonstration event, the company introduced the automatic welding equipment currently used on production site to its external partners. The company plans to support related technologies in the future for the implementation and expansion of the technology. 

 

​ HJ Shipbuilding & Construction

-HJ Shipbuilding and Construction held a naming ceremony for two container ships at the Yeongdo Shipyard, attended by more than 100 shipowner stakeholders and employees.


​ HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering

-HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai's intermediate shipbuilding holding company, has won the world's first order for a medium-sized ammonia-powered vessel. The company plans to implement ammonia-based dual-fuel propulsion engines for two 45,000 m3 medium-sized LPG carriers ordered by the Belgian shipping company Exmar in March.

Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering

-Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) announced that it has hosted the 'Industry-Academia-Research International Symposium for Entering the Offshore Plant Service Industry' at the Homers Hotel in Busan. 


▶ Korea Gas Corporation

-Korea Gas Corporation announced that its subsidiary Korea LNG Bunkering has successfully carried out the country's first Simultaneous Operations for LNG Bunkering (SIMOPS) using its dedicated LNG bunkering vessel, Blue Whale, which implements the domestic cargo hold (KC-2) technology. 

 

▶ Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute 

-Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute has signed an MoU to actively support the digital transformation of companies. The Institute will support the equipment companies to build their 3D product modeling libraries, consolidate and align product specs and data with large shipbuilders, and engage in design collaborations. 


▶ Research Institute of Medium and Small Shipbuilding​ 

-Research Institute of Medium and Small Shipbuilding will be supporting the training of foreign technical professionals to help resolve the labor shortage in the shipbuilding industry in Busan.​
