The Research Presentation Meeting of the Ship & Offshore Design Research Committee was held at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ HR Development Center from August 24th (Thursday) to 25th (Friday). The meeting proved to be a meaningful venue that fostered lively discussions and exchanges among colleagues in the field of design. The event facilitated lively technology and information exchanges among the 160 participants while presenting a total of 60 research papers in six design categories (basic, structural, accommodation, electrical, engine, and cargo).

The special lecture, under the aim to set the future direction for the shipbuilding industry, showcased the lectures by Song Kang-hyun, Head of Decarbonization R&D Center of Korean Register, on the ‘Status of IMO EU Decarbonization Regulations and Response Strategies’ and Chief Researcher Son Sung-mo of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering on the ‘History and Development of Marine Anti-fouling Paints.’ The best papers for each sub-category were selected by vote from a total of 60 papers. The winners include Kim Wonil of Samsung Heavy Industries, Lee Yong Woo, Kim Byunghwa, and Kim Jonghyun of Hanwha Ocean, Koo Hyungkyu of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and Kwon Sungmin of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
