​ Hanwha Ocean

- After 45 years Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has been renamed to Hanwha Ocean.


​ Samsung Heavy Industries 

- As the first company to deliver such capability in the market, Samsung Heavy Industries announced its development and implementation of a data-driven integrated enterprise monitoring system, SYARD, which allows single-point management and monitoring of all information generated in the end-to-end shipbuilding process (EPC: Engineering, Procurement, Construction) from cost estimation to product delivery.

 

- Samsung Heavy Industries announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a global offshore energy solution firm MISC Berhad, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the development of a floating carbon capture and storage facility.

 

- Samsung Heavy Industries obtained an Approval in Principle (AIP) for the Basic Certification of its CMSR Power Barge, a floating nuclear power generation facility, from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping). 


​ HD Hyundai Heavy Industries

- HD Hyundai Heavy Industries signed an Agreement on the Joint Development of Core Technologies of Seawater Electrolysis System at the Korea Institute of Materials Science. This agreement aims to jointly develop core materials for seawater electrolysis, anion exchange membrane (AEM), electrolysis stacks, and system-level technologies, while mutually leveraging the strength of both institutions. 

 

- The Gunsan Shipyard of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which resumed operations last year, held its first block departure ceremony and has now entered mass production to achieve this year’s target of 100,000 t blocks.

 

- HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Technical Education Institute has declared to actively focus on fostering skilled technical talents in response to the increasing demand for shipbuilding workforce. The institute plans to train over 1,000 technical talents this year. 

 
​ Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

- Hyundai Mipo Dockyard held a naming ceremony for a 40,000 m3 LPG carrier contracted by the British buyer Union Maritime at its Ulsan Headquarters.


​ Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries 

- Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries recently held a Waste styrofoam Recycling Demonstration Event, announcing the start of its full-scale production of recycled materials.


​ K Shipbuilding

- K Shipbuilding announced that it has signed an MOU with Busan-based Silla Metal for the joint development and implementation of eco-friendly ship propulsion design and energy-saving devices.

 

- K Shipbuilding announced that it has signed a contract with a European shipping company for the construction of two 50,000 ton eco-friendly petrochemical product carriers.


​ HJ Shipbuilding & Construction 

- The Shipbuilding Business of HJ Shipbuilding & Construction announced that it has signed a KRW 316.7 billion contract with HMM to construct two 9,000 TEU methanol-powered container vessels.  

 
​ Daehan Shipbuilding

- Daehan Shipbuilding announced that it has received orders for two 158,000 DWT suezmax tankers from the Restis family of Greece.


​ Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO)

- Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering announced that its Equipment Reliability Evaluation Laboratory has been certified three consecutive times, in 2018, 2020, and in 2022, as a Safety Management Excellence Lab by the Ministry of Science and ICT.


​ Research Institute of Medium & Small Shipbuilding

- The Research Institute of Medium & Small Shipbuilding is launching a Production Innovation Support Program for Medium & Small Shipbuilders, in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy with the aim of bridging the gap in smart production technology between small and medium-sized shipbuilding industry and large shipbuilders.
