​ Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME)

- DSME attended Posidonia, one of the world’s largest shipping exhibitions, held in Greece, and joined forces with Greek LNG shipping services provider GasLog and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) by signing an ‘agreement on joint development project focused on developing onboard carbon capture and storage system (OCCS). 

- DSME successfully developed core tools and equipment of LNG carriers based on domestic technologies in partnership with Hyupsung Metalize Co., Ltd. and other research institutes.

- DSME partnered with Ingersoll Machine Tools, a global 3D printing company headquartered in the US, and successfully produced the 10-meter-long model of a “Twin Skeg” ship using a composing plastic material (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, ABS).​

​ Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI)
- Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) newly installs the Safety Management Committee and reorganizes safety related units in an effort to eliminate serious industrial accidents. 

- HHI has decided to move up the date of resuming the operation of its shipyard in Gunsan from next January to this October.

- HHI and Korea Gas Technology Corporation (KOGAS) joined forces to expedite the efforts to secure core technologies of next-gen energy sources including hydrogen and ammonia. 

- HHI was selected as preferred bidders to construct six units of offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) for the Philippine Navy. ​

​ Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (SHI)
- American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) awarded approval in principle (AIP) to SHI design for a one-side spread mooring system for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility for production, storage, and offloading developed with its own technologies. 

- SHI won the approval in principle (AIP) for its onboard carbon capture’ applicable to LNG-fueled vessels from the Korean Register of Shipping (KR) for the first time in Korea and which was newly developed together with the compatriot company for eco-friendly marine applications Panasia.

- SHI has succeeded in verifying the performance of its new reliquefaction system, X-Reli, independently developed for low-pressure X-DF engines at its LNG pilot test facility located within Geoje shipyard.

- SHI attended Posidonia 2022 International Shipping Exhibition and confirmed that it won AIP for its design of Ammonia-fueled vessels from American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).​

​ Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd. (HMD)
- HMD delivered a methanol-powered chemical tanker ordered by a Japanese shipping company NYK. It has a hybrid engine available to use methanol as fuel.

- A car ferry built by HMD held a commencement ceremony to start the operation on Incheon-Jeju route in full swing. 

- HMD signed up to build for 4 ultramax bulk carriers for Thenamaris, the largest ship management group in Greece. ​​


​ Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HSHI)
- HSHI first installed an antivirus lamp on the ‘VL Bright’, a 318,000 ton Very Large Crude Oil Carrier scheduled for trial by March 10, 2022.

- Korea shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), the subholding company of global shipbuilding titan Hyundai Heavy Industries, won KRW 427 billion order for 3 LNG ships. Under the deal, HSHI will build these medium-sized vessels in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, and will be delivered to the owner in order starting from the 2nd half of 2024.  

- HSHI held a christening ceremony of 4 units of 174,000 CBM (m3) LNG carriers ordered by Norway-based Knutsen OAS Shipping at its 2nd Quay Wall in Yeongam shipyard.

​ KShipbuilding
- KShipbuilding received orders for 2 units of 115,000 DWT Aframax tankers from Sinokor. 

- KShipbuilding and DongHwa Entec signed a MOU for 8,000 TEU class LNG-fueled container ship development to strengthen the competitiveness of medium-sized vessels in eco-friendly shipping.  

- KShipbuilding secured 8 LNG dual-fuel neo-panamax newbuildings worth about USD 1.04 billion (KRW 1.3 trillion). ​

​ Korean Register (KR)
- KR signed a MOU with STX Energy Solutions (STX ES) and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to work together on the ‘technology standardization and commercialization of solid oxide fuel cells’. 

- On May 11, 2022, KR announced that it awarded Singapore-based Marine Technology Solution a Type Approval certificate for their direct and continuous CO2 emission measurement system called ‘Carbon Lens’.

- On June 9, 2022, KR announced that it signed a MOU with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) on technology cooperation in offshore wind power project and construction sector last month to further accelerate the partnership.

▶ HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) 
- HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) held a proclamation ceremony to renew its commitment to achieve the goal of ‘zero-accident in the workplace’ and designated 2022 as the year of building safety and health system.

- HJSC announced to hold a christening ceremony for ‘ENDAM’, the nation’s first multipurpose large oil spill response vessel (5000 TEU) ordered by the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM), on May 26 at its Yeongdo Shipyard in Busan.

- HJSC announced to receive Lloyd’s Register (LR) AIP for 7,770 TEU LNG-fueled container ship.​

​ Daehan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
- Daehan Shipbuilding (DHSC), Haenam-gun, and Unison signed a MOU to develop the Hanam Shipbuilding Industrial Complex and agreed to mutually cooperate to develop Hwawon Shipbuilding Industrial Complex into the hinterland of Sinan Offshore Wind Park.​


​ Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS)
- KOGAS and Changwon City inked a commercial agreement for the construction and operation of a base-type hydrogen production base. It is expected to produce hydrogen of 10 tons per day in Yeongnam region and further spread the hydrogen mobility when the construction is completed in 2023. ​


​ Korean Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI)
- KOMERI and Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU) signed a MOU to foster shipbuilding talent for the future.  

- KOMERI announced that it was newly designated as a dedicated research institution of Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) for ‘marine equipment research and technology development project’, ‘authorized testing and product certification project’, and ‘reliability assessment project’.​​


​ Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO)

-  KRISO announced that its ammonia fuel supply system for 84K(84,000CBM) ammonia carriers was awarded an AIP from Lloyd’s Register (LR).

- KRISO awarded Korea’s first AIP for liquid hydrogen fuel tank for ships. 

- KRISO has signed an MOU with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) and Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) for the development of a digital twin platform for the virtual testing and demonstration of floating ocean wind power concepts. 

- KRISO and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) signed a MOU on “joint research and development of a small modular reactor (SMR) for ships and offshore plants”.​​


▶ Korea Marine Equipment Association (KOMEA) 
​- KOMEA) installed its 7th overseas workstations in Houston, the US. KOMEA plans to utilize the Houston workstation as a window to increase exports and support for Korean marine equipment providers to enter into the US market. 


​ Research Institute of Medium & Small Shipbuilding (RIMS)
- RIMS announced that Shipbuilding ICT Equipment Technology Support Center was additionally selected as the accredited testing agency of shipbuilding ICT convergence equipment of Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) under Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS). 

- High speed small/medium vessel design support center that supports the development of various types of high speed ships including special vessel and small/medium-sized commercial ships held a ceremony for the completion of construction and began to operate in full swing. ​​
