Developed a small and medium-sized ship operation and management system
Research Institute of Medium & Small Shipbuilding (RIMS) announced on April 27, 2021, that it developed a small and medium-sized ship operation and maintenance support system by forming a consortium with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including Next Generation Logistics (NGL), universities, and research institutes in Busan and Jeonnam area.
The research institute developed a system that collects and analyzes the operation data of small and medium-sized ships and provides ship managers with the necessary information for decision-making regarding the operation and maintenance of ships by combining state-of-the-art information and ICT.
The notification on the equipment of ships that needs inspection along with the voyage log, engine operation log, inspection reports, etc. is computerized. Moreover, the notification on the consumables inventory of ships, fuel consumption, and abnormal situations during operation will be provided.
In addition, the research institute built a system that provides maintenance-related mentoring services given remotely by experts on land, based on augmented reality (AR).
